The cover provided by your statutory health insurance may not be sufficient abroad.
They may pay only an absolute minimum, which in some countries does not correspond to the best possible care or the care you are used to at home.
In the rarest of cases, repatriation in the event of illness and/or death is also covered by existing health insurance.
Talk to your health insurance and/or insurance company in good time before your trip and check what protection you have abroad in the event of illness or injury and whether return transport is covered.
